A
recent industry survey revealed that many small
and medium sized businesses are paying little
attention to budgets when booking hotels for
their staff and many don't have preferential
rates negotiated at frequently used properties.
|
|
|
Negotiated
rates at preferred hotels are in essence beneficial
to companies who use a specific property to book bedrooms
at least once a week, every week, throughout the year
but there's no guarantee that this will be the lowest
available rate on the day, especially if you book
directly with the hotel. During times of low occupancy,
hotels may well offer even lower promotional rates.
However if you have a negotiated rate, this is what
you will be charged.
This is where TMG Corporate's guaranteed 'best value'
hotel booking system can help.
To ensure you are really getting the best possible
deal, TMG will first analyse your travel patterns
over a period of time and recommend appropriate hotels
in terms of location and quality where a worthwhile
discounted rate might be obtained. We'll carry out
the negotiations on your behalf and, most of all,
when you come to make a booking, we'll automatically
check that your rate really is the best available
on the day.

A settlement has now been reached concerning fuel surcharges
paid by BA and Virgin passengers on long-haul flights between
11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006.
This means that if you travelled between these dates then
you are entitled to a refund for each long-haul ticket that
was purchased in the UK or US.
Some
of you have already registered at airpassengerrefund.co.uk
to initiate a claim. TMG Corporate is also checking records
and will be in touch with those of you who qualify for the
refund.

As TMG Corporate reported last month, many airlines have
been forced to cut or cancel routes due to the rising costs
in aviation fuel. So far this month United Airlines have
announced the cancellation of their Heathrow to Denver service
on 25 October only months after it was first launched, Emirates
have scrapped their planned route to Durban and even no-frills
carrier Ryanair are to reduce its number of weekly flights
by 14% from their main UK airport - London Stansted.
Even
though pressure on fuel cost is likely to remain a really
acute problem for airlines for some time to come, it is
not all doom and gloom when it comes to air travel especially
when booking through TMG Corporate.
Our
Wizard Fares are specially negotiated with major airlines
and are very competitive. There really can be quite substantial
savings especially if you consider travelling on airlines
with connecting services such as KLM via Amsterdam. Transiting
via an airport in continental Europe is often more convenient
especially for those whose starting point is outside London
and the south-east.

Following
the 26th OAG Airline Industry Awards last month, BA retained
their crown of Best Transatlantic Airline and was also winner
of Best Business/Executive Class. The award for Best Economy/Coach
Class went to American Airlines, whilst Best International
First Class went to Singapore Airlines.
Other
winners on the night were Easyjet - Best Low Cost/No Frills
Airline, Virgin Atlantic - Best Airline Based in Western
Europe and Singapore Airlines winning the prestigious Airline
of the Year title.
Meanwhile
congratulations also to Jill Wallace who was picked out
of the hat after correctly answering the questions from
last month's competition. Jill will experience a gourmet
overnight stay at the Macdonald Compleat Angler in Marlow.

BA is
offering free return tickets on Heathrow and Gatwick Express
when you book a return domestic UK flight. To qualify you
must book either a fully refundable and changeable ticket
or a selected restricted ticket. Book and travel before
30th September.
BA is
to buy French all business airline L'Avion to be integrated
into its OpenSkies subsidiary. The launch of OpenSkies services
was made possible through a codeshare agreement with L'Avion
which has given BA access to Paris Orly airport.
There will be up to three daily flights between Orly and
New York JFK/Newark airports operated by the combined airline.
